Hydramatic transmission rebuild
Hydramatic transmission rebuild
Had to pull (username) transmission, I believe it is a 3 speed hydramatic with OD but not entirely sure. Have the rebuild kit but haven’t put it back together, any suggestions on rebuild process I have the gears/clutches soaking in ATF right now, kinda forgot how everything goes back together but that’s probably not going to be a problem.
There's plenty of youtube videos out there. I would assume you have a 200-4r, but it's worth verifying. Hopefully you bought the right rebuild kit.
Most of the work is straight-forward, but verifying clearances can be a little tricky, and the parts to change clearances are often hard to procure. The 200-4r center support is the only thing that really benefits from a special tool, but that's for removing it. Installing is very simple.

Hopefully you have a service manual.
About 20 years ago CK performance published a 2004R tech manual that covered parts interchange, ways to measure clearances without the fancy Kent Moore tools, and assembly tips. No clue if it’s still available, but well worth the money. I’d argue it’s more informative than the factory manuals.
Other than YouTube videos and the books, unless you can find someone local to help your on your own. Work slowly, don’t force anything, and work cleanly.

Do you mean the center support? The actual low/rev clutch is just a clutch stack with a couple of snap rings. Those should slide right out.
It's a real problem if the case lugs are really messed up. Then one of the tools is almost necessary. I have one of the metal ones that I can loan if it comes to that. Every now and then they show up on ebay. The metal tool is much easier to use than the plastic.
If the lugs aren't terrible, then two pieces of L-shaped wire work - use them like big hooks to grab and pull. I've also had the center just fall right out after flipping the transmission upside down and hitting the case a bit.
