How do I defeat steering lock?
Just picking up a '70 Cutlass S but it has no keys. What's the best way to unlock the steering column?
Although this is a parts car, I'd like to do as little damage as possible...

to get it out of park just disconnect the shifter at the transmission and move it to neutral by hand( on the transmission) In order to remove the steering lock pin from the column you will have to take the steering wheel off and remove it. you can also get to the lock cylinder also once you have the lock plate off. There is a special tool to remove the lock plate but can be done by hand also.
