Trying to find out what the type of nut the bolt gets secured to, when I bolt the hood latch on the hood. It’s for my 70 supreme.

 

On the factory hood LATCH (the "hook" looking piece that you pull up on with your fingers AFTER you pop the hood LOCK)....the LATCH already has nuts built into it. It's held onto the underside of the hood with two 5/16" hex flange bolts.

My bolts go into the latch, but my hood doesn’t have anything for the bolt to tighten too. Does a clip style spring nut go onto the hood?

 

Put hood latch inside hood and line up the two holes in hood with the two holes in latch, then install 2 bolts. The latch is secured to the hood now.
