A-body convertible seats are narrower than coupe seats because of the extra width of the top mechanism.

Any 68-72 Chevelle, Pontiac Tempest, Olds Cutlass and Buick Skylark series convertible will have the same rear seat.

A Supreme has rear armrests the same as a convert, so I would think that the seat would be the same width...I am not going outside right now to measure any

Convertible vs Coupe Back Seats

Here is a convertible back seat:

Here is a Coupe Back Seat:

Notice how the top mechanism intrudes and makes the convertible rear seat smaller.

Notice that the Supreme coupe has fillers and armrests the same as a convert, thus making them the same size...I am not going out to measure them right now thanks...

I have always believed that the seats were different sizes in spite of the stamped steel filler that goes from the plastic armrest to the rear shelf, but I will admit that I never measured them, even during the many years that I had both A-body coupes and convertibles at the same time. Now, with an A-body coupe and a B-body convertible I can't go out and measure them.

If someone else here wants to go out and measure them, or has a parts manual that would confirm the part numbers are the same or different, or can say that they have interchanged them without modification, that would settle this conclusively.

I have always felt absolutely certain that the seats are different sizes, but I would be glad to admit I am a bone-headed moron if, in fact, I am.

The above information is pretty clear as to interchange however here's info from an Olds parts manual.

70-72 f85 convert series 4267 rear seat back springs part # 9615772

70 f85 Cutlass Supreme 2dr hdtp series 4257 rear seat springs part # 9615771

This refers to the upper rear seat back.
You might also mull over the fact that all repop rear seat covers will show converts to be unique.

I took it myself, in September of 1987.

A buddy of mine drove that car to college from California his sophomore year.
It was painted pink with a roller.
He passed it on to another guy, that guy blew the trans and gave it to me.
I put it up on blocks and changed the trans ($75 from Charlie Molt's junkyard), then drove it for another year before the engine blew.
It had no top, so I had to wear a poncho if it rained.
It also had a high compression 350 and went like a raped ape.

I was driving a 911 Targa at the same time that year, and, let me tell you, the Cutlass was a whole lot more interesting to the girls than the Porsche was.

Ok; So I went downstairs and measured an armrest for a '68 Supreme @ 3"...an armrest for a '68 convert measures @ 3 5/8" or so... so it seems I am mistaken again then in the parts book Supreme rear bottom cushions are alone '68(7712580) as are converts '68(7788607)...so the converts must be narrower by 1 1/2 inches than a Supreme...shoulda looked in the book first '70 convert rear cushion # 9812344 ....can't find a listing for a '70 Supreme

You wouldn't have wanted it. It was in the weather for years.
The car had practically no interior, and not a single good body panel.
