it is a 425
389244 D Code
Passenger Side Cylinder head has stamp on it.

They are 548 C heads
Thanks in advance

Olds didn't use a "D" prefix for the engine unit number in 66-67. The closest I can find is a "P" in the Delta 88 and Delmont 425 models. The "L" suffix means a low compression (9.0:1) 2bbl motor.
Of course, this just means that one HEAD came off such a motor. There's know way to know for sure where the block and other head came from...

it has not been disassembled before i tore it down. they are the original heads to the motor.
still has original rod/main bearings with minimal wear. From the looks of that and the lack of taper in the cylinders 100k tops mileage wise, probably less.
Thank you for the information provided so far and keep up the great work guys

According to the 67 CSM a Toro 425 should have a prefix "R" and a suffix "T"... The 66 CSM shows the Toro 425 with a suffix "T", but was not specific on the prefix... As well, I could not find a "D" code listed...

You mentioned the D looked smaller than the rest. Could it be the top of an R with the lower legs not stamped well? That would fit with what CRUZN 66 shared.
Can you share a picture of it with us?
