Grounding lug at PS bracket 67 442

I was looking at the assembly line manual the other night and it appears they want the fixed nut on the grounding lug outside of the PS pump bracket. I had it originally in the block with the nut sandwiched between the block and the bracket, only to take it all a part when I saw the wiring portion in the assembly manual. Now however there is a space between the bracket and the block if I DON'T have the nut between the bracket and the block. What is the order of installation here?

Regards

The double stud goes into the block, then the P/S bracket fits over the stud & a nut holds the bracket to the stud. It's just as the PIM shows. If you have P/S and do not have the correct stud,it will leave a gap behind the bracket. On a non P/S car,a bolt is used for the cable attachment. The cable goes between the stud/ bolt & block which ever is required.

So Mike do you have to remove the ps bracket to change the ground cable?

Yes unfortunately if you do it like the factory did. Of course you can ground it on the outside of the bracket but........

Keep in mind that the ground wire was attached the same way whether that particular car got the optional power steering or not.
