Great Oldsmobile pick today! Rallye 350

I started this deal last Saturday. With all the problems I have had this week, it took most of the week to make a deal. He told me this morning to bring extra money because he has more stuff for me to look at. By the end of it I didn't take enough money. He wants me to come back after all our other problems are taken care of and get more.

Rallye 350 F85 bench seat 4 speed car (missing most everything) sitting in dry storage since 1982. This body is VERY solid! the bad part is that someone done a hack job replacing the rear quarters. I am not sure what the reason was for replacing them because there is not any rust on the car anywhere else. I am thinking it was dented on both sides or something. The doors, floors, trunk floor and trunk lid are very nice. the windshield frame looks like it has a little pitting before it was painted but not much. The work was done in the early 80s and never finished.

Also picked up 4 OAI air cleaner bases
rust free 70 core support
console
NOS 70 lower air dam (deflector) I have never seen one of these NOS
Most of a power window/lock setup
Another 4 bbl air cleaner from a late 60s car?
Convertible frame
X water pump
66-69 4 speed hump (already sold)

I am not listing any parts till after the Homecoming show. I will take requests to bring something to Homecoming but I have to much going on for the next 3 weeks.

I would hate to part it out but it is missing ALL the good parts other than the SH posi rear end. It is mostly a shell and rolling chassis with disc brakes. He has a 350 engine that I still need to pick up for it. I have not looked at it yet to see if it is the original engine. I know the 4 speed is missing. As solid as it is I would want $3500 for the car with the engine but that is because that is what the parts are worth. He said the engine is locked up. I have not seen it yet. I know it will need the quarters replaced because of the hack job they did on it. the quarter skins will fix it because they only replaced up to the hump and no higher. If someone wanted to complete the car as a driver the quarters would be ok but the wheel lip on these early repop quarters are VERY poor. It was bought last in 1982 with 90,000 miles. it has around 94,000 miles now. They took it apart soon after they bought it and there it sit. He robbed all the parts for other projects over the years so that is why it is missing so much. the seats and door panels are with it but they are driver quality.

Congrats on the find Eric! Well, I've got a couple 1970 350's if you can't find something closer. Period correct would be a step toward restoring it. Posi rear is cool, but the rust free core support, and 4 row top plate I see are nice pieces too. So many of these have gone away it would be a shame to part this one hearing how solid it is. It would be nice if it had the numbers matching engine and transmission though, I understand you there.

Whatever you end up doing have fun with it! Time playing with the hobby can ease the stress of the trials you've been dealing with.

I am at $3500 as it sits on the trailer or $2600 as it sits with no rear end or steering wheel. If I can keep the trunk lid I would do $2400.

Please put me in line for one of the OAI air cleaner bases, if you have one for a '72 and are going to sell it. Thanks.

I was bombarded with the air cleaner base requests from PMs and phone calls. I want to take one to Homecoming first. I am not sure what they are going for right now. I need one and was going to keep an extra around. That only leaves 2 and I have 6 guys wanting one. Not sure how I will handle this one. Let me figure out what I want for them first.

I understand. I'm not in a hurry - I just wanted to get in line, if you decided to sell some of them.

The red air cleaner is a '68 442/98 unit. Unique 90 degree adapter used only on '68 models with AC. Snout hot air hole close to base necessitates the adapter. Snout should not have added-on flare on the tip.

The car is so solid it should be fixed. All the parts missing can be found- or close enough. Kind of begs to be a restomod. I always wanted to make a Rallye 400. Put a 425 in there. Same all-yellow paint scheme.

I am in no hurry to part it out because it should be saved. I would like to move it to recoup my money. I am not going to make much on it but couldn't turn it down. If someone wanted it I could bring it to Homecoming. If I was to bring it there I would have to sell it as it sits for the $3500 because i do not have time to pull the rear end.

Hi Eric.

Very nice find. Hopefully someone will restore it back to the original condition. Seems those 4-speed Rallye's keep finding their way to you. lol

How are the W-30 projects coming along?
