Gas tank

Thanks for everyone's help with carb ID. Now let me pick your brains on gas tanks. I've heard do not purchase a new tank due to thin metal. I have found information on shops that restore gas tanks using epoxy resins after throughly cleaning the tank. Any opinions on gas tank restoration services? Thanks!

Good question! I am in need of the same information.
And I didn't realize people were shying away from the reproduction fuel tanks.

Unless you tank I completely ruined, I would have it boiled out and sealed. It will cost less. Some of the replacement tanks do not fit as good as originals. I don't know if replacement tanks are thinner or not.

This will surprise all of you. I bought my new tank from jc whitney about 11 years ago my tube had to be welded to it though and i have had 0 problems and no surface rust with it yet. I now tend to believe that they might have no1 chinese parts check it out and the price is super reasonable i paid 120 plus tax but i picked it up. I used reproduction straps with no problem and a new pick up. I used tamraz for those.
