gas pedal thing?

hi,i have been reading a lots of threads back to see if this would be answered and did not see an answer.so here goes..on my '66 425,at the firewall for the gas pedal,what is this setup?.pics incl..what is this electrical thing??i have the original shop manual for this car and no mention of this at all..

hi guys,as i said before,the answer is out there..thanks to you guys once again,because i did not see a picture of this switch in the shop manual,but sure enough they talk about it.one's a detent sol.and the other one is stator control switch.forgive me as i am not familiar with this.did only the olds have this?.that means that the 400 has a switch pitch converter!.as i said before,i have a 200r4 that i am planning for this car.am learning a lot on this forum and thanks again...paul

Buick used the switch pitch set too, but had a completely different looking switch/controller.

If I had a switch pitch T400 I'd be looking at a Gear Venders OD to bolt onto it. Those switch pitch converters are cool, I loved the one that was in my ST300.

thanks guys,will be interesting to drive this car with this setup.i never had one like this.obviously if i change conv.or put 200r4 in,this switch is no longer useful.is this tranny rare? i think they only made this setup for 2 yrs?thanks..paul
