Fisher body plate

Did they use the Dupont paint code on the body plate instead of - - or a 2 digit # for special order paint codes ?

My experience is that often depends on the Fisher Body plant. "- -" is more often than not a special order or non-standard color, or I have seen them with SPEC stamped in the paint code field.

Thanks for the reply. The only reason why I am asking is I have three cars and they are all different. My 1970 Rallye 350 has a - - on the plate sebring yellow made in Lansing. My 1970 cutlass sx has a 73 on the plate rallye red made in Framingham. Mt 1970 442 has wa 3893 on the plate sebring yellow made in Linden. All special order colors with 3 different body plates. I never checked them all at the same time . Thanks

Yes, the non-Lansing plants did sometimes use the WA xxxx paint code on the cowl tag. I've seen this a number of times. Note that the WA paint codes are GM numbers, not the paint provider's numbers.
