I would be looking at having the original Q-Jet rebuilt by one of the good rebuilders that specialize in Q-Jets. Forget the Edelbrock.

The only certainty is that the E-brock will be jetted incorrectly out of the box. I'm with Ed. Why would you want an aftermarket carb on this car?

Generally you could clear the hood with a square bore carburetor adapter. If not, you could always go to an aftermarket air cleaner. I bet your OAI hood wouldn't be easily adapted to an aftermarket carburetor though. Ultimately, changing to an aftermarket carburetor opens a whole can of worms. You'd need to adapt the throttle linkage; as well as, any transmission kickdown linkage too. There are no "kits" that will let you bolt it on and go.

X2 with ED...Don't believe all the hard knocks the Q-jets receive at times.
