E heads

I'm looking at a set of E heads out of a '71 Delta 88 that need to be rebuilt..

The guy is looking for $125 for the pair so I wanted to know if this sounded reasonable or if I should talk him down a bit..

FYI, "E" heads were 1970 only, so they are not original to that 71 (meaning that they've been off the car previously). $125 is not out of line for cores, assuming they are not hurt or cracked.

It is a good price for a set of good heads. Last set I had sold for 300.00 and they needed a valve job.

That's not bad at all!!!!
I started taking off a set off at the yard today but got stuck on the exhaust bolts so I'm going back tomorrow to try and cut them off!!!!
I wish the engine wasn't so raped or I'd buy it for $200!!!!!

I was asking $200 for a set of E's 3 years ago, ended up only getting $125.

This is what the guy replied back:
"The E heads are currently on my 71 Delta 88 and are original stock and never changed from the car. Car was a daily driver for me and the heads and motor currently have 97,000 miles on them. They have never been rebuilt or removed from the engine. They do burn a little oil though."

And he would be wrong. Two choices here, either the heads have been changed or the whole engine has been changed. Checking the VIN derivative will tell you if the engine has been changed. Unless he's owned the car since new, he has no idea what's been done to it. In any case, there are no issues with getting those heads at that price, which was your original question.

Thanks for the info on the E heads guys but he told me he also has some C heads as well.. Heres the info:
"C heads were not set up as daily driver and do not have hardened seats. They are off a 68 455. The intake and exhaust valves are roughly 1.995 inch and 1.62inch in diameter. I have a friend who rebuilds heads for a living rebuild these for me when he rebuilt my engine. He decided to go with the edlebrock aluminum heads instead so I am selling these."
