converting to 455 1972 cutlass

Hi, looking for some info to clear up an issue on swapping power steering pump brackets from the 350 to 455(also has ac). I was told I need a different bracket ,but from what I can visualize between the two engines I cannot see where I would need a different part. Has anyone done this swap and does it require different brackets and which one is/would be the different one?

Whomever told you that you need different brackets is incorrect. Use all of the brackets, the water pump (or new replacement for), the motor mounts (or new) and the pulleys from the 350 and get new belts for the 455 and you'll be good to go.

thanks for the info, just wanted to be sure because I know the dimensions between the 350 and 455 are in theory different dimensions and brackets that would connect to the front of the block and head should also be different , which the one bracket for the alternator/ power steering mount does mount in the way as stated above.

Having the brackets in their proper location and the spacers too can make this seem confusing.

Take a look at this post and see if it helps any. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ring-pump.html

thanks for the help guys , I did actually get to see a 1972 455 with ac in person and have figured out it is actually the lower alternator mount that is a little over 1" wider than the 350 part that I currently have.
