71 Cutlass Timing

Hey guys, does anyone know the right timing for my 350 Rocket? My under hood sticker wasn't there when I bought the car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

10-12 Btdc @ 1100 rpm with vac advance disconnected. More if your running an HEI.

ASSuming a stock engine:
10° BTDC @1100 RPM for the 2bbl and the 4bbl with manual trans, 12° for the 4bbl auto,
BUT whatever works best for you is the best.

If you can advance it a few degrees and have it not ping and still start well, so much the better.

Sorry guys, should've mentioned that I upgraded to an HEI. I'm thinking maybe between 12-14 BTDC.

Feed it as much timing as it likes! I'd start 12-14! If you have a setback timeing light, set it @ 34-36 BTDC at 3000-3500 rpm with vacuum disconnected, and see where your curb timing falls.

im upgrading from my 2bbl to an eddy 600 4 bbl. car will have headers and exhaust soon. should i also try the 12-14 BTDC with the factory point system or is that only for HEI?

The curve on an hei is diferent, I would also recomend a setback timing light, and set your dwell @ 30, no more - no less. Then set your timing @32-34 @ what ever rpm the timing quis advancing with vacuum disconnected, usually around 3000 - 3400 rpm.
