62 olds 394 to 455 conversion info
#2
The two engines mount differently. The 394 mounts at the frint and at the bell housing area. The 455 and T-400 mount at the side of the block and at the trans Extension housing. You will need to build mounts off the frame and fabing a trans x-member. You will need to mate the T-400 yoke the drive shaft. Make power steering hoses from 455 p/s pump to your gear box. If you are not using A/C use the alt mount brkts on the passenger side and wire it up. Adapt your throttle linkage. You can do it, just go for it.

This can be done with some difficult alterations especially in a '62, as a '63, or '64 has a lot more room because the front Cross member sits back farther than the '63, '64. The Engine compartment is shorter in the '62 and your 455 and Tranny will come in contact with the Tranny Tunnel sooner, creating difficulty in Tranny / Drive Shaft alignment angles. Be Patient and you might be able to get it done without altering the Tranny Floor Tunnel.
