Lightbulb 350 alternator

Guys, i have just bought 350 engine and box ( 1980 ish ) to put into my own car, the only thing it lacks is the alternator ,and as it was never there i now i don't know how it fits , I seem to have a upper bracket high up that sweeps over to the right hand side ( looking at it from the front ). I think i may be missing a bracket at least. can someone post some pictures of how a fitted one looks please. I can then see what i need etc.
Thanks

Have a look in the gallery, or do a google image search on olds rocket, rocket 350, or something like that... Or, you can get a book from eBay... Or here' a pic- might be from this site. Good luck.

Keith, most Oldsmobiles have the alternator on the driver's side.
That pic is a passenger side non A/c car setup.

John, of the two styles I think you may have one had a stamped steel top bracket and the other is cast aluminum alloy. Can you tell us which you have? John

Alternator

Guys, thanks for the input.
I realise now that A/C has a bearing on where the alternator will be sited. thats why some pictures i found had it on the RHS and others on the LHS !
My engine doesn't have A/C but i suspect that it did as i seem to have the alloy bracket on the LHS of the engine ( looking from the front it is the RHS, hope that's not confusing) and i don't have the lower bracket i can see on the photo Keith put up, is that a seperate bracket or is it part of the block as it looks ?
I'll try and get some pics of what i have onto the forum
I have no preference on which side i put it. but as i seem to have the upper alloy cast bracket, maybe i would be best to go with that side. I'll take a look an ebay and see whats available. Also i'll look back through some pics and see whats' what

Thanks
John
