Has anyone done a set of head gaskets on one of these? If so what issues am I in for? I am very mechanically inclined and have done head gaskets before. Any specific issues related to this application?

 

Support the engine under the oil pan with a floor jack before disconnecting the motor mount. This will allow you to rock the engine forward to remove the rear head.

 

It books for about 18 hours to do both. Cam holder tool, torque angle meter needed. New head bolts also.

 

Since the 3.5 is a mini version of the 4.6 Northstar, as a precaution, in addition to changing the head bolts, I would recommend drilling the block and adding new head bolt inserts (aka Time-sert)... This is almost a necessity when changing head gaskets on the 4.6, I don't know for fact this is a real issue with the 3.5, but I would hate to find there is an issue after the job is done... JMO
