1st day of production

Does anyone know the 1st day of production of the 1972 Cutlass Supreme 2dr hardtop in 1971? Also is this the same day the components that were produced for the model year were made, like transmissions, engine blocks, heads differentials etc? THANKS all I appreciate the help!!!

Which plant are you referring to? The parts were built weeks or months prior to production. I would like to think that Lansing started production first on pilot cars to see if everything is fitting properly. Since 72 had subtle changes, I would like to think that ramp up was very quick at all plants.

best I've got:

'72 Oldsmobiles went on "official" public sale Thursday 9/23/71
Saturday 8/21/71 was the end of the first week of Oldsmobile A-body production with ~2,800 built

what do you have & what are you trying to figure out?
