1968 Olds Cutlass Adaptor Defroster Repair

Any thoughts on the best way to repair the broken tab? I don't have the piece that broke off. Thanks.

I've had good luck making tabs out of PC7 epoxy putty. If it needs to have some strength, I embed a piece of wire in the original piece and mold the epoxy around the wire. Before it gets hard, you can trim with an X-acto to get the shape.

I just went through this with the ducting for my 67 Delta. I repaired it with two-part epoxy for plastic and fiberglass mat. Just be sure to rough up the original part and degrease with precleaner prior to bonding.

Thanks Tom. I have some PC7 left over from restoring my steering wheel.

Thanks Joe. Did you use just the two-part epoxy? Or did you also use the fiberglass to fix your broken tab?

I basically wetted the mat with the epoxy and laid it up like you would with fiberglass resin. I used the epoxy for plastic instead of the resin because 1) it bonds better to the base plastic, and 2) it's more flexible than the fiberglass resin.
