1965 Starfire rear bumper

The bumper came from Oklahoma and the bumper brackets came from Michigan. Last time I saw this car all put together was 1978. Is there a piece that attaches to the bumper under the taillights, or, do I even have the right bumper? Feed back greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My guess is it needs a rubber bumper filler. Check with Steel Rubber, Soft Seal, Metro Rubber. Maybe they can help. Again I have never seen this perticular car so im not sure. My 67 has front and rear bumper fillers.

You're missing the filler pieces both sides. I think they're chromed steel, they may be stainless or aluminum- it's been years since I looked at a 65 bumper up close.

Finding both of those may be a tough find.

Thumbs up

Lawdy. I still think a 65 Starfire's rump is the sexiest car booty in the world!

I sold some brackets recently from such a car.
I vaguely recall removing some extra bits like filler pieces before calling the rest of the bumper a pile of rust. Some of the fasteners broke off of course.
