1964 Cutlass Hood Insulation Pad Which side goes out

Need some help from the board. I'm installing the hood pad on my Cutlass. It didn't have one when I got it, so no reference. Was wondering if the Gray fiberglass looking side goes towards the hood or the black smoother side. Any help would be appreciated.
Steve

Found a answer from Fusick

Looked in an old Fusick catalog and they say the fiberglass goes towards the engine. If someone has something different, let me know. Guess I have the wrong fasteners though. I got the round ones, square ones would be correct for a 64.

Right, the grey fiberglass side towards the engine is correct. I don't know about the fasteners for a 1964.

When I ordered mine with Fusick, the fellow asked if I wanted the original type fastener (square), or the round one which he said attached better. He said there were complaints about the square ones. I just went with the round.

I have square fasteners on my 69 442, but they are original fasteners. I remember I damaged a couple when I did the hood pad many years ago. I remember buying repro square fasteners, and they did not hold as well as the originals. In any event, the hood pads were typically glued around the edges. The clips aren't really enough to hold it if the pad gets really wet.
