The 1970 speedo IS different from a 68. The general appearance and mounting are significantly different. They were however identical for 68/69 models. The 1970-72 speedos are also identical.
Not sure whether that means they were no different, or no, they were different. That's why I chimed in.

My gear indicator is broken on my 1968 Cutlass Speedo. My friend has a 1970 Speedo he said I could use parts from. Is it hard to change the gear indicator with the little spring that is on it. Does anyone know how to do this that can explain it to me so I do not destroy my Speedo? Thanks ...Todd

To pick nits: among the MANY differences between 1968 and 1969... the cable has a threaded attachment to the '68 speedo, vs a slip-on + clip system for 1969+
However, if the PRNDL needle is its only issue, that's an easy fix.
