Picked up a 70 442 today

Had a friend stop by last night and told me about this car. I went and picked it up today. My first thoughts are that this car is VERY restorable. The floors and trunk pan look very nice. The OAI hood and doors are also very good. The core support and trunk lid need very minor work but nothing rusted out. Has the original engine and transmission but the engine will need a sleeve. One hole has a broken piston. Missing carb, distributor, and alternator. It is a real 442 and parked in 1987 with 59,000 miles. Not original paint. Still has the spiral shocks on it. Looks to have had the drivers door replaced. Maybe crashed because the rocker looks like it had some work.

NICE find!

Any idea why the chrome on the plastic gauge bezels is ALWAYS rubbed off?

Not sure why the chrome always is bad there....

The car needs quarters and lower front fender work. The driver side rocker looks to have some kind of crash damage repair but not sure?? Some parts missing here and there but I have most of the stuff already that is missing. No OAI air cleaner but the OAI hood is very good, I am assuming it was added and not original to the car?

Man it looks like you have been in my garage .

Given it is as complete as it is, i doubt your thinking of parting it right now. However, Ii you happen to get to the point of parting it, I would be interested in the pearl interior pieces if they look like they would clean up ok.

After looking closer to this car I could never part it out. Way to much going for it. It will be for sale at some point but not yet.

80% of this town knows I pay real good finder's fees. I had a friend driving 2 hours from here and happened to find it by the road for sale. I am lucky it did not find it's way to the internet or I would have never made it there on time.

If I had the space and extra money I would keep it and I know I will regret selling this one but I will likely have to. We picked up a 4 speed Jetfire that will be my next project. I should stash this one away and make it a project some day in the future. It needs a major restoration but could easily be made into a driver as it is.

Completely understand and agree, but a guys gotta ask.

Great find. It's funny, I cannot tell you how many compliments I got on mine on the way home and when I had to take it to the DMV, and I'm thinking it's not even shiny or rumbling yet. I hope mine turns out 1/2 as nice as your W-30, and I'll be happy.

Now is this the after MCACN project?
