A car like that with a worked 327 SBC would go for a lot more than $2100, but it seems that the 81-88 G Body cars go for a ton of money.

I would still buy it and plan on swapping the motor or transmission if they have problems

Cutless?? (Olds spelling police - it's called Cutlass). A saloon is a sedan, this is a coupe. I think you meant Salon.

None of those models came with leather. Some did come with vinyl but the majority were cloth.

The 327 transplant will give it much better performance than the 3.8L (231) V6 it likely came with, BUT I'd be really leery of a car that has known numerous front end crashes and has rust.

Contrary to what's been said, these G body cars do not command big $$, mostly because they were produced in the hundreds of thousands. For 1986 alone they produced 232472 of this body style. In 1985 the number was 219850 units. I could go back to 1981 and list the production of this body style, but needless to say there would be a total over 1,000,000 bodies in this style. They were more common than dirt and outsold the other brands by a long shot. I owned an 82 new out of the showroom - it was a nice riding car but; weak as hell with that lame 260/TH200 combo and significant wind noise from the T top roof.

Honestly? No. Mainly because you've indicated it has been in numerous front end crashes. I'd be worried about the front frame and mods that may have been done. From your description this is someones old race car. Are you buying it to race or as a DD?

327 is a nice engine, but it also means that you have different engine mounts and mods to the wiring harness. The TH400 will easily handle the torque from it, but as others have said, this is more of a Frankencar, so judge it accordingly.

Just an FYI, front end springs aren't all that hard to replace, and neither are control arms/bushings. Just time consuming.

I merged your 2 threads, I'm assuming is about the same car. It does not look bad for a $2100 car, it would make a fun toy.

If it's been in a few accidents, walk away!

It most likey has vinyl seats. Sounds like it was orginally a V6 car. Would make the SBC an easier swap.

It's starting to make sense that the car "looks good" It has a lot of body repairs and fresh paint
