Many people are selling these aftermarket LED housings that are not DOT street legal.

Can you see the glare coming off them from an elevated position where the picture was taken???
That means oncoming drivers will be blinded by the glare coming off these. That light beam shouldn't scatter THAT high.

They are not designed properly, so no I wouldn't buy them.
You will get the same result from putting HID bulbs into a halogen designed housings......insane glare and not legal.
More importantly they are dangerous to other drivers on the road.

Not sure if they have them in the smaller diameter, but search for the newer projector type and filter out anything below $250.00 then again for DOT approved products.

The marketing text says designed to dot standards but not dot listed....I wonder does that mean it meets dot standards? My guess would be no I think the text was added and carefully worded to make it seem like it could meet dot standards, but doesn't.

Junk.

Do an H4 conversion with dual relays and you will be amazed. I can see into the future with my high beams.

^ Agreed.

Samething I did. The rest is just wallet liquidation for non-DOT ignorance to other drivers.
........ and I'm a Mod junkie.

glass or plastic?

Nick:
Thanks for sharing the Summit links. I've been considering this conversion for my project (especially the relays) but didn't think to check Summit. I have 2 questions for you:
1. Do these Hellas kits have glass housings or are they plastic?
2. Did you have to modify your headlight buckets to install them?

Thanks

They are glass, very nice quality. I did have to cut the headlight buckets open to allow the bulkier glass housing to fit. I used some sheet metal sheers and repainted them.

I also had to elongate one of the notches in the headlight buckets to fit the 3 tabs on the headlight that keep it clocked in the correct position.

The curve between the high and low beam housing is slightly different, which is needed so the lows beams are short and wide pattern, and high beam is longer and narrow.

I was afraid this detail would stand out and annoy me, but unless I'm actually crouched down looking at them, it's not even noticeable.

Those lenses are much flatter that the old T3 style, and the back sides are hugh compared to the OEM bulbs. Where did you mount the relays for the wiring harness?

Relays are mounted to the core support area behind driver side headlight.

Great information Guys!!!
Thanks for your replies.

I was looking into LED so no reply's are needed. I'm sure someday soon there will be a dot approved LED.
