Remote trunk release

I'd like to add electric trunk release to my 71 convertible. Anyone have any experience rigging one up from a 90s or newer trunk release found at a junkyard to these older cars?

If you can get into the early eighties, you should have a better chance of a match for a latch. There is a dimple inside the glove box on the left side for the button. Then you have to tear up your carpet to lay the wire from the button to the latch and a supply wire for 12V.

*0s cars aren't out of the question, just not as available here. The electrical part is not an issue as the car is in pieces now, no interior, etc. I'm hoping someone cam up with a junkyard solution like so many other things you can re-purpose from there.

I did find this trunk release solenoid, which might work if I don't come up with something else.

Check with Scott (oldspackrat) or Eric (jensenracing77) . Both of them have a ton of parts for your application and they're incredibly fair and easy to work with. Why adapt a different release when you can get OEM?

Because originality is not important and I love mods I can do for five bucks and re-purposing junkyard parts. For example instead of buying an expensive aftermarket fan I got a dual Windstar fan and a Volvo relay unit for twelve bucks.

No problem. It was just a thought. Good luck with the conversion.
