61 Bat, I like where you are going, I'm planning on the Paxton supercharger over a 4 bbl too. My wife's maiden name is Paxton so she is on board to me adding it to one of our 394's.
Looking forward to the updates and detailed pictures.
You should think about adding bucket seats (would be the same as the 62) and console making it a Starfire coupe and add the aluminium side moldings.

Hi everyone.. Just found this thread. I got one of those fulls size cars too.... I love full size 4 doors, weather it Chevy Buick or Mopar... Ended up with this one was not the plan A, but now I am teeeaaallly happy with it.... Its really rare here in Denmark, Scandinavia.

Unfortunately, mine is a Wi car, so a reframe is in order. I just started that project last month after acquiring a 4 door to be the sacrifice a couple years back. It feels good to be starting after 5 years, but I have my 4 door pictured on page one to scratch the itch in the meantime................ Did anyone ever come up with a decent body mount insulator when doing a body off?
Summerof84, I believe that Metro and Steele make new body mounts now for olds and buick, they might vary from original on the outside diameter but will fit.

Another new dark side member! This is my 1964 Dynamic 88 Fiesta Wagon. I think its the only one posted thus far, and I'm sure I won't find another one any time soon.

I'm trying to remove the right front fender from my '63 Dynamic 88 and after pulling out a whole lot of nuts and bolts I'm still struggling with trying to find the ones that are holding the fender on. Seems as though I haven't even affected it. Can someone point me to the "real" mounting bolts that need to be taken out so I can get this thing off?

Here's an illustration from the parts book. If i remember correctly , the fender must be separated from the inner fender as well as the radiator panel to come off. Hood and hood hinge may also have to be removed . Hope this helps,

And even after all the bolts are out the fender is usually stuck pretty good to the inner fender. Dont know if you are trying to remove just the fender or fender with inner well attached as this is the easier way to do it.

Hood and hood hinge have to come off. Hood hinge is bolted to the fender AND the firewall.
1) I pulled a motor and consol and posi from a running 1969 Delta 88 and junked it. It still pains me to think about it. It had 68K and the green cold light went on when i started it. it had buckets, center consol, 2 barrel carb and a 256 posi rear end. 2) i have owned 67 cadillac eldo, 69 tbird, 70 t bird,"I think I am in love with the BIG Girls" and wished i jumped on a 66? white Starfire blue interior 2 door, buckets consol tac, posi, car for 12k. it was amasing and i don't see it at any local shows.:-(

Purchased two weeks ago off of Ebay. Going through the car figuring out what I have and what parts I need. Have been able to trace the car back to Ohio (title May 2011, owner unknown) Pensylvania (titled July 2014, owner unknown) then it was bought at a mecum auction around january in Florida and sent to Utah. That guy sold it and a dealer in Santa Monica sold it to a guy in Missoula Montana 6 months ago. Cars been doing a lot of flipping. Would like to trace back further but think it will be really difficult to do so. Know it was built at Southgate CA though. Appreciate any help bringing this baby back to original and fully functional. Spent the day yesterday tracing down electrical shorts and figuring out what parts I need. Anyone have a door switch or rear speaker grill/emblem? Good source for engine related parts like a OEM valve cover breather or the premolded rubber hose that connects to the PCV valve?

My hats off to those of you who have taken on the challenge of restoring and maintaining these large cars. It's difficult to find parts for them and the task of painting one of these behemoths requires so much more time and materials since you're basically painting two A bodies. LOL
In addition to the wheel cover is there an additional beauty ring? See a few references to beauty ring.
Looking at buying some tires this week. Want bias Ply looking radials with the 1" white wall. Looked at Coker but can't find what I'm looking for.
Is your spare tire the same size as the other 4? Do you have carpet and cardboard dividers in your trunk?
Do you have any good part contacts?
Not a beauty ring but a "turbine ring" that attaches to the hub caps....
My spare tire was a 15" rim, I don't know why....
Yes mine had trunk dividers but in bad shape..I made my own...
Tires...I have a guy out here who cuts whitewall for 40.00 a tire..looks good and last a long time without yellowing...
Coker's are expensive....

I can tell you that when I bought my '62 it it 1964 full wheel disc covers and they did not go at all with the body lines of the car. In fact, in my opinion they were abominable.
and it could have been a two-door or a four-door. The "Celebrity" was always a four-door.
All of the '61 Dynamic 88 styles are shown on this page from one of the '61 Olds brochures. Note that there was even a 2-door pillared version offered, but the Celebrity name wasn't used. It was used only for the 4-door pillared car.
The captions can be a little hard to read. That's a Holiday Coupe upper left, Celebrity Sedan lower left, Holiday Sedan in the middle on the right side, and the 2-door sedan in the middle of the page.

That is my daughter in the one pic, she couldn't wait to start working on it so I let her do some wire wheeling on the floor pans lol. She really wants to help dad with the car so this is a great bonding project for us.
She's grown and married and almost 30 now, but one of my two daughters liked to hang around when I was working on my cars when she was younger. She'd ask what I was doing, hold flashlights for me, get me another wrench because I had the wrong size in my hand, and come with me to most any car show or cruise-in I took the car to. To this day, she has a pretty good eye for recognizing, from a distance, a vintage car just by its body lines.
That is awesome. My daughter is 13, and she is really eager to work on this car with me, so I figured I would let her turn some wrenches and teach her what I know so that when she gets older she will appreciate the beauty of these old cars.

Glad to see your daughter has an interest in the car . Not many of the younger generation do anymore .
This forum, of course, is dominated by the "A" bodied cars.
I'm starting this thread , and dedicating it to 88's, 98's, Starfires, Jetstars, and Fiesta's.
I borrowed the term " darksider " from a Pontiac forum.
What's a darksider ? Well, It's kinda like most of the hobby is concentrated on the "A" body cars, and the "B"& "C " bodies are on the darkside of the moon.
Life is a little tougher for a "darksider" because there is little support in the production of reproduction parts.
Still, us "darksiders" forge ahead with our restorations with used or NOS parts when we can find them.
I started this thread so that we can identify ourselves to each other, and share as much information as possible.
I would appreciate it if everyone who owns a 61-70 full size car would post a pic of it and tell us a little about it.
I will start it off by showing my 63 Dynamic 88 Holiday 2 door. I bought it 3 years ago out of NM . It's in 10,000 pieces right now. But I'm doing it Johnny Cash style. "One piece at a time".
Thanks for the "darkside" Charlie. I've posted pictures of my '62 Starfire on the general forum before, but I think that the "darkside" will be more focused on the big Olds of the '60s. Dennis
Yes Charlie, it feels like I'm treading water for the last couple of months. This car has an unbelievable amount of undercoating on it. Just poking around the bottom of the car I pushed through in a few places, so I'm now removing all the undercoating because I don't want to miss anything that needs to be repaired. I'll enjoy this site I'm sure, now back to the heat gun,scrapper,laquer thinner and rags.
