u joint help please

I've got a 69 cutlass with the type O rear end. Just picked up a nice chevy 12 bolt out of a 69 chevelle. My u joint is not mateing to the yoke on the 12 bolt chevy rear end. Can anyone tell me if theres a different u joint I need to use or do I need to buy a whole new yoke and u joint? Ive looked over some other threads on this but can't find an answer. Thanks

They make a u-joint to do what you want. I've found them in local NAPA stores. Tell your favorite parts store what you doing and he should be able to come up with it. If I remember right Oldsmobile is longer across and may have larger caps. Then the chevy is shorter across and possibly smaller caps.

Yes. The caps are larger not fitting into the chevy yoke. My local part store kids don't know anything unless its a Honda. hopefully someone here can give me a part number of what exactly I need.

Brian Trick posted the part number for that conversion u-joint a while back. I couldn't find the part number but a web search revealed you need a 1310 to 3R conversion joint.

Edit: part numbers on this site

From what I found, the # for the U joint you need is 3130 for the greasable one.

Is Spicer brand part number 5-3022X a good part number? Showing thats their part number for the 1310 to GM 3R conversion.

I made a typo in my post above: the conversion u-joint number is 3130.

I edited the above post to correct the number.
