Polishing Service

Well guys,

I've done some polishing in the past and since I am retiring from the military this year, I figured I would start offering up this service and see if it is needed. I am able to provide basic services such as polishing valve covers and stainless steel trim pieces. I am repairing dented and dinged up trim pieces now, but I would like to hone this skill a little more before I start working on other peoples dented and dinged up trim. So, for now, it's polishing only.

Price for site members is $20.00 an hour, with a one-hour minimum. The clock starts when the buffer is turned on and the clock stops when the buffer is off. I won't even charge you for breaks. Stainless trim cleans up real quick, aluminum, depending on the age and texture of the surface, can take some time to get a real good shine on it.

I am charging a flat rate of $25.00 locally. But since members will also need to ship the parts both to and from Birmingham, I figured I would reduce the cost a little.

Thanks
Tom

I plan on doing a couple of items over the weekend for displaying at the cruise nights. I'll post pictures of the stuff when it is done. Before and after.

I am getting my skills back, slowly.

I took a few dents and dings out of the lower rocker trim off of a 72 Cutlass Supreme.

Step 1: Slowly tap the dent out

Step 2: Sand the repaired area smooth

Step 3: Polish the area (this is a three step method using different wheels
and abrasives)

Step 4: Clean with a metal polish

I am going to work on my anvil a little so I don't have to do so much sanding after tapping the dents out.

Tom, really nice finish on the rocker! I'd think you'd need to charge also for removing dents though to recoup some of the time you're investing into restoration. Just my 2¢. Thank you for your service, and I hope retired life rewards you many times over.
