Another question Joe - I see you have a 64 Jetstar 88 rag. what is the difference from the 64 Dynamic rag that I have? I had a 64 Jetstar 4 door hard when I was kid thats why I started the Dynamic project

I've been cruising ebay for parts and parts cars since I got my 64. I just stumbled across a 64 HT within 15 miles of my house that looks like it's been parked in the same place for years. I haven't approached the owner yet, but I will be next time I get back that way.

The J88 and other 88 convertibles for 1964 used the same sheet metal. Differences were in trim and the drivetrain. The J88 was a lower-cost version of the full size cars. Instead of the 394, the J88 used the new-for-64 330 motor and two speed Jetaway trans from the A-body cars. It also used the smaller 9.5" brakes. rear axle, and the 5 x 4.75" wheel lug pattern from the A-body cars. As a result, the frame on the J88 is unique, as are the spindles and rear axle.

Of course, for me, the fact that the car came with a 330 means that a 455 bolts in...

The front crossmember on the Jetstar 88 isn't that much different than the other full sized cars in 1964. There is a picture someone posted on ROP that I saw once. The frame has an additional "tang and ears" (the best way I can describe it) on it that allow the 330 motor mounts to be bolted to the frame. I found out that these 330 motor mounts for 1964 are hard to come by.

Cool - thanks. If you buy the 64 close to your house - I'll buy the front quarters from you - maybe more than that

Unfortunately (for you) if I buy it I'll be using much of the sheet metal.

I was up in Iola for the swap meet and ran across a fellow who has a bone yard in Amherst. I haven't managed to get there yet, but he said he has a bunch of old oldsmobiles up there. Tom Chojnacki is the name, phone is 715-258-0362, cell is 715-281-6362. I haven't confirmed info, but he might be worth a call. He had some decent sheet metal, and prices seemed reasonable.
