W30 clone
W30 clone
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oldsmobile-4...S_Cars _Trucks Listed as a 442, which it is, but has W30 "options", never says that it is a clone. It does look nice, but honesty is not his policy I guess.
Wow! 100k!! This is where I want to ask them "are you effing nuts"? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oldsmobile-4...US_Cars_Trucks
The W27 rear end is what intrigues me. The guy says it has the W27 rear housing cover but the picture looks like the entire unit is there. Does he have any idea what he does or doesn't have?
Also just noticed those two links you posted read the same but when you click on them they go to different cars...? At least on my computer

Beautiful car but concourse quality? I think they would take off a bunch of points for the incorrect stripes. Why would they go through all that trouble and not make sure they got the stripes correct? Puzzles me. Would they take off points because it's a W-30 clone as well? Also is that the correct master cylinder for that car?
Numbers-matching engine? Then this must be one of those rare W30s that wasn't assembled in Lansing ....
I'm pretty sure the center section of the rear end is just cast iron, painted "aluminum." Just like the rear anti-sway bar is (incorrectly) painted silver.
The battery's mounted wrong, too.

Now that I look at it again, it is from a GTO. It's tapered toward the top and straight. How did they get that to fit in an olds console.

The W-30 intake is a repro. Note the raised area around the "OLDSMOBILE W-455" lettering. The repro mold has this mark because the mold portion with the lettering is replaceable to allow both this and the "OLDS W-455" styles to be cast from the same mold. You'll see a similar ridge around the casting number on the repros.
Interesting that he apparently has an original W-30 radiator top plate - or else has done an amazing job of weathering the tune up decal.
The rear axle center section is more likely aluminum paint than real aluminum.

Sorry, but anyone who spends that much money on a car without verifying authenticity deserves to be separated from their money.
Well technically he's not advertising it as a W-30, just that it has W-30 options. It is a decent attempt at a clone, but i guess he should state that in the discription. It is a true 442 though according to the vin. I'm guessing its getting nowhere near the money he thinks he can get for it.
