In-Line Gas Filters
I've never had one of these before.

Should it be half full (1/4 full?) like that when the car is not running?

I have to agree - and yes, I've also been using them for over 40 years with no problems. Some people are concerned that the plastic can break and leak, but I'd be more worried about the glass bowls used on the factory filters (like the one I suspect is used on the Rund car... )

Yeah, while looking through the Fusick catalog I saw the glass one that is supposed to be on this car and thought to myself the plastic one looks safer, but the glass one does look very cool.

The Rund car started out with a stock Tri Carb fuel filter (glass bowl) and I spent a lot of time chasing leaks at all the fittings. I wonder if the Tri Carbs I have seen burned up had a leak of that sort. I am now running a 3/8" steel line from the hose coming out of the frame crossmember to the fuel junction block. The filter is at the back along with the electric fuel pump. I found that the Holley mechanical fuel pump caused the carbs to run out of fuel just after the 1/8 mile.

I don't run my car in the drags, but my well set up 455 is quite happy with what I've done. Rear mounted Mallory 140 pump, filter, and engine mounted regulator. Really did this more for storage than performance, as also have an underdash power switch. Nice set up really, as can prime the carb on start up, and stall the car out on empty carb bowels during shut down. Car starts instantly when sitting for months, and usually disconnect the carb line in the summer, and pump the lines clear into bottle. Actually wouldn't go back.

We had a customer [65 98] that had a 'plastic' one - the car overheated and the plastic one melted, fuel all over, and caught fire - on the expressway!
Car burnt to the ground!
I've changed about 10 since then - to the steel ones!

So would you suggest the $2.83 Fram filter from Amazon:
or would I be better off with the $16.99 one from Jegs:

Have you ever considered going to your local auto parts store. They have them in stock. I would not buy the $16.99 one.
Fram plastic is a G3
And the Purolator version is a F20118
