Will Someone Please Help With Canada Body Tag Decode

I just bought a new project and need some help decoding the Body Tag. I know the important stuff like it is a 442 with a close ratio M21(still has all the tags on it). It also has the white/parchment bucket seats. I'm curious what D55 option is and what the paint code CGG is. The car was originally gold but that is all I know. The car does have the bright finish drip rail mouldings. What does the 1-4-22 mean?

It turns out the car was not gold originally, the floor is a dark green. I also got some photos from previous owner showing a dark green. Does anyone know what CGG is?

C= white, G=willow gold. When you said dark green, I first thought "Jade Gold" which is a metallic green, but you data tag says otherwise. I would get the Canadian documents, which give you everything for a car sold or built in Canada.

Thanks, I looked up willow gold and that is very close to the color. The paint chips I found online say willow gold is CG. What is the second G?

I do plan on getting the paperwork from Canada. Im trying to decide if I want standard or the heritage package. Www.vintagevehicleservices.com I am not doing a numbers matching restoration; what is the benefit of heritage certification?

C is the code for white, whether as the body color or for the stripe. GG means Willow Gold for the lower body color and Willow Gold for the upper body (the top). If the top were a different color, then it would be GB for example: Willow Gold with a Ebony Black top. if it were vinyl or a convertible top, then it would use a number for the color. G8 would be willow Gold with a Gold vinyl top. As you have indicated that it appears that the car was Willow Gold, then I am inclined to think that it was Willow Gold with a white stripe.

There isn't any unless you feel the need to spend extra money. Both the standard form and 'heritage' form will give you the same result, but the standard form costs about 40.00 less. The standard form will tell you all the Yada yada about production and all the vehicles options it was produced with.
Check them out: http://www.vintagevehicleservices.co...tion_73.45.pdf

The 'heritage' form is for documenting 'Canadian Built' cars. A wasted effort IMO since you already know your car was made in Oshawa.

Allan, If this were a two tone paint car, wouldn't just be "CG"? Why the second "G"?

because upper & lower body paint colors are always listed seperately on the data tag.

Isn't CGG code for Willow Gold body with Willow Gold roof & white stripes?

First letter = lower body color, 2nd letter = upper body color (top). Would the stripe be listed first or last? He has indicated that it appears to be willow gold, so why wouldn't the main color of the car be listed first. Is this spelled out in the Assembly manual? In '69 they went to a two digit paint code. Mine is 55 for Tahition Turquiose, as it is painted that color top and bottom, my data tag reads 55 55, so if his car was origianally Willow Gold top & bottom, wouldn't it be G G? Looking for definite answer/clarification, sorry if it sounds like I'm beating it to death.

I first thought CG was willow gold and G was gold. Therefore I was thinking willow gold upper w/ gold accents(stripe?)
Obviously, I don't know. Lol

Good question, I got the info about the 2 tone right out of the SPECS booklet. What I'm wondering is if it could have been originally painted like the (68 HO) shown below, but with a white stripe?

The stripe would follow the body like the H/O, but it's about 3/8 of an inch wide, and is about a 1/2" below the trim. My buddy has a '68 442 with the stripe, but I don't have any photos that show it.

This type code is certainly particular to the Oshawa cars. Based on what's been said, it does appear to be a stripe color code first. It also may be a W36 stripe designation too. Since none of the W30s were built there, this means it possibly is code shown exclusive to a 442 ordered with a W36 stripe.
A look at some other Oshawa 442 tags will clarify this for sure.
