That would be my first guess.

Post all the numbers off the ring gear.

it has a 8" ring gear. 2:73 gears GM

numbers on ring gear 41-15 GM 6 69C 0 last zero maybe O

Yup, 8-7/8. Now all you need to do is count the splines and that will give you a little better break down of what it fits. 28 or 31.
