I seldom do this, ......as I don't like this type of question....but my ignorance is hindering me on this one.

A local fellow reeealyyy wants to buy the heat riser shroud and tube from my 72 455 motor. He needs it for his correct restoration. Gave me his number and told me to call him when I wanted to sell it.

Problem is, I have no idea what to ask for it. I would have thought such cheap, simple pieces would be repopped by now.
Are these as scarce as he says? And..... what's a fair price to charge a fellow Olds guy?
I don't want either of us ending up disappointed with the deal.

 

I think the shrouds are repopped. The heat pipes I have not seen. I have been seeking a pipe myself for my 350. I have seen prices been between 15-50. 50 is overboard I think.
Maybe 25-30 for the pipe. Personally i think 25 would be tops for me. I have a slinky style in there that works, but factoryness would be nice...

These are parts that were often trashed, as they are emission related, they added weight and could not be used with headers.

 

Friendly would be $20 + the ride, IMO.

 

a repop is $99 for the shroud and $43 for the pipe. if he just has to have original and not repop and these are real nice i would think they would be worth close to repop price. i have never priced them so don't go completely by this. this is just an idea of what i see in original good used compared to repop many times.
