Cool valvetrain

64 Olds 330, #1 head rocker arm shaft. Installed new cam, lifters and valve springs. If the lifters are properly preloaded, what else can make so much valvetrain noise(like lifter noise)

What is your oil pressure?
Is the inside of the engine very clean?
How much preload do you have?
What lifters did you use?

Hey Gene, thanks for the response. This is driving me bonkers. engine runs 30-40 psi hot. Looks like plenty of oil pumping through the pushrods. Engine is clean inside. measuring .040-.060 preload on comp lifters. Thats on #1 cyl. tdc. Should I check all the cylinders? Comp say's piston travel on the lifter is up to .120" but thats getting close to no pump up.
