Brothers Automotive Carburetors

Has anyone purchased a carburetor from Brothers ? I have a 1970 W30
that is numbers matching EXCEPT for the carburetor, it has a 1971 W30 unit on it. I know these pieces are very hard to come by and Brothers is
advertising these units for $495.00, I assume they are re-stamps. I don't
have a problem with that considering the originals are almost non-exsistent, my question is are they worth it ? Just wondering if anyone
has had any experience, good or bad with them.

Thanks
Bill

is your car a 4 speed car? i can't answer the question you have about there carbs but there was an original 4 speed carb on eBay a while back for under $1000. i know that is alot more than $500 but if it is all original other than that it may be worth it.

I have a nice restamp 7040258 that was purchased from one of these companies that I will let go cheap. It has never been on a car. I can send some pictures and price if you are interested. I see a couple minor issues on the carb that can be easily corrected. Lee

I had a BAD experience with Brothers Automotive! I tried to order a Dual Gate shifter and they continually lied about shipping it.

I finally had someone go into their location and they immediately refunded my money and tried to physically throw him out. The police were called and a complaint was filed.

Buyer Beware...

don't buy it, I understand the cost factor but if that is a reason then just keep the one you have for now, or try to swap it with someone that needs yours.

Brother's Automotive has been about 1 decent sale, and around 8 problem sales for me. So I simply gave up on them. There's much better service vendors out besides BAP, IMO.

As far as Brothers' Quadrajets are concerned, years ago they freely admitted to me on the phone that their carbs were restamps; I wish they'd simply state that in their catalog. I bet they'll tell you the same if you call and ask.

Sorry, I can't comment on the quality (since I didn't buy one). If their rebuilder has the ability and integrity to build each model correctly (and has good cores to start with), it would be a good, affordable way to get the "correct" carb for your car. Just be warned that pretty much any carb needs some level of adjustment after installation.

IMO - When you start putting parts with "restamped" numbers on your car ..... the "authentic" numbers start to be questioned.

I've also heard that Brothers Automotive is bad news. Luckily, I haven't experienced their poor customer service first hand.

Someone who I can totally relate to!

I'm sure you will find your carb on one of the Olds forums.
