tranny cooler ques

tranny cooler ques

I wanted to install a tranny cooler in my 72 cutlass 455ci motor and a th400 tranny I do alot of manual shifting have a dual gate shiter.I see a lot of tranny coolers have btu not sure what that means but I bought the factory aux tranny lines for that year the factory one is to expensive.what is a good tranny cooler on the market and how many btu do i need thanks

A cooler is only mandatory if you've a higher stall convertor that'll generate heat!
Unless you're downshifting from 4500, [which'll blow the front pump] I'd not worry about it.
A shift kit and changing all the fliud to B+M Trick Shift would help more!

I use the "manifold" style verses the "Snake" style and also get it with "AN fittings verses a barbed hose connection...Probably over kill as the others have been around for years.......

with the manual shifting when should you shift in to second then third at how many rpm

Whats the difference between 'Manifold' Style and 'Snake' Style? I have never heard a transmission cooler described like this.
