"Junk Yard" photos

No Olds.... but some cool old cars/trucks. I was wandering around on the farm over Christmas checking things out. These are some cars that are sitting around my wife's grandparents old home place. The house was struck by lightening and burned in the early '70's. There are cars, tractors, and all kinds of old equipment sitting around.

Nice pictures Robert. Pretty cool. I guess they didn't like to part with their cars and trucks? Looks like they literally drove them into the ground.

Any chance they would be amenable to selling parts off those beauties? I'm drooling for the windshield visor on that '51 Pontiac - should bolt right onto my '53 88.

Great pics Rob. A lot of them would look good framed & hanging in the bar. The panels on those 2 Mercuries look as solid as the day they were put on.

Awesome. If that was my family I would have all those pulled out of the bush by now.

Thanks for the comments. A neat little place back in the woods...glad I could share a rapidly disappearing piece of Americana.

As most old farms were back then, they didn't get rid of anything. Many of these cars were Gov't surplus (Savannah River Site, where all the A-bomb materials were manufactured) that were purchased for a few hundred bucks. My father in law and his Dad drove the wheels off of them. When one died, they would park it and get another one.

I pulled the 51 Merc with the suicide doors out many years ago with big plans to build it. Obviously never happend....too much of the rest of life got in the way. It will be up to my son now...
