☺☻☺You can't beat a stoplight camera ticket ☻☺☻

But I did ...

I received four tickets last year and being a poor guy with way too much time on his hands I've been fighting all of them with a two out of three win ratiio so far ...

I also think after seeing the mondo lines at court that the man is handing out a shitload of tickets in an attempt to fund civic coffers at our expense ...

If every one fought their tickets we could shut the system down. They are so busy that most cops do not show for trial as they need to write more tickets (most cave/traffic school)
I saw a lawyer get three no show dismissals @ $1500 per...

A plainclothes woman cop went first and talked about the set up. On my rebuttal I asked if the camera was digital and started to get into what a lousy medium
digital is for accurate color etc...

The judge said it was not her place to answer as he would be the judge of that so I asked if he was the expert witness. He let that drop and so did I ...

I started to show the judge scars and stuff that should have shown in the photo ...

He stopped me and said that It could have been my brother but he could not say it was me ...

Case dismissed ..

Good for you! I hear a lot of complaints about those cameras.

Much harder to fight these in Ontario now. Police officers are paid to attend these trials and they are scheduled around the police officers available times.

Also for any traffic camera offences which there are very few in the area the ticket is issued to the vehicle owner and they don't care who was driving. Its left to the owner to get compensation from the driver of the vehicle if it wasn't the owner. Their stance is if you let someone else drive your vehicle its your problem.

The camera's are like slot machines for the cities installing them. Seattle will install 160 more of these because of the income they produce at a minimum of $124.00 a pop. The ticket goes to the owner of the car doesn't matter who is driving.

The judges here do not overturn them because it is considered a civic fine and does not go on your traffic record. The nick name is red light cameras

A long time ago I asked a state trooper what the best method for avoid speeding tickets was and he told me "Just don't speed?".
Hmmmm.
Most all the intersections around me only have street lights so you can see where you're turning at night.

In a lot of areas of Cleveland you don't even dare to stop at traffic lights or stop signs if you know what's good for you, day or night, if you do you get stopped at least there's a cop around.
I don't even think the cops stop in those neighborhoods.
My daughter's new rookie cop boyfriend has been writing parking tickets for weeks, all day and every day.
They may let him ride in a cop car soon.
I always wondered something about cops so I asked my daughter. He does make siren noises in his own car when he see's a trafffic perpetration taking place.

Here's a novel idea folks. DON"T RUN REDLIGHTS, dont even run yellow lights. Why the big hurry? Do you have kids? Ever seen one dead under the wheels of a car? I have and it really sucks. I'm 39, I drive for a living, sometimes as much as 120000 miles a year since 1988 and I've only had 1 ticket in my life. If I can do it anyone can and blaming the system is useless.

I'm not blaming the system. I'm saying that the system is gouging us and it's our duty to challenge it ...

All over Ohio they have flashing yellow lights to warn you when the lights are about to change. Really makes it easy on me when I roll up on a changing light with a 52000 lb coil of steel on my truck.

I do agree that some citys use the whole ticket thing as a way to make money and it is or duty to challenge this practice whenever we can.

They have started to put them up in places not too far from me but I have not seen them yet. The local governments don't have the money to put up anymore of them so I guess we don't have to worry too much....yet.

The major companies that make these things actually promise the local governments that they will pay for themselves. It's all a big money racket.

you guys don't know the half of it, I'm laughing, your at the tip of shitesville and about to enter it.

We have had these things here for years, they call them

'road safety cameras'

not traffic infringement cameras, or speed cameras etc, as that would be seen as plain and simple revenue raising ( which is EXACTLY what it is)

we now have redlight and speed cameras all rolled into one at some intersections.

Hell, on the way to work this morning I went past a 'speed camera car' these are actual late model cars that have a camera mounted on the front of them and the operator sits in the passenger seat and just watches it do its thing. Best thing is the cops don't even run these, there outsouced to private contractors!!

Once your local governments realise how much they can make out of these your all screwed. the start of the speeding fines here in Victoria anyway is $200 odd and a loss of 1 point ( you get 12) that is for 3km/hr over the limit thats 2mph for you guys, can you imaging driving a 50's car with mph speedo to work and trying to keep from not going 2mph over the speed limit. the next fine is for 10-15km/hr over which is 6-9mph and thats 3 points.

Even the cop cars have onboard radar guns attached to the cars.

funny thing is that the car companies wont even guarantee their speedos to 3km/ph accuracy. its a farce, a big money making farce and it seems you all about to learn about it, all I can say is watch out.

For those of you in areas with red light cameras, tell me how they work. How do they define "running a red light?" Is there any sort of grace period? I've heard that the technical definition is if any part of your vehicle is still in the intersection when the light turns red. But around here it's almost impossible many times to get your back bumper through the intersection before red, either because you're traveling too fast and the yellow is too short, or because you're going too slow due to traffic in front of you. Also, what about the left turn lanes? Around here you will definitely get caught in the middle of the intersection while turning left, because you have to wait for on-coming traffic to clear.

california says any part in the intersection you are good...

They give a grace period of a couple weeks ...

left turn is the same but if you get stuck in the intersection by pedestrians etc. you get a beefy parking ticket ...

These cameras are just a money making scam for the local government using them.
The outsourced companies hired to install and run them usually end up with about 50% of the fines collected and are usually from a different state or country in some cases.
When the cameras are installed the duration of the yellow light is also shortened. what's up wit dat!
