W-25 Hood Scoop Black Paint

I should know this from the cars I've had but what's the sheen? Is it flat black like our firewalls? Satin? I need to paint the scoops on my pace car before taking it to Indy for the 500 next month.

Thanks!

There gloss. And if you are using the color coat with a clear coat, you won't even feal a lip.

I assume you are asking about the inside of the scoop since Pace cars used decals vs the painted hood stripes on normal cars. If so, it is not gloss. I'm not sure of the level of gloss though. I bought my 70 W30 in 1978 with original paint. I would describe the black at that time as a little less than semigloss. However, the car was already 8 plus years old at that time. So who knows what heat and the weather had done to it.

If you are talking inside the scoop, you want flat black. You don't want any light reflecting inside the scoops at all.

They were not painted all the deep into the scoop but they really don't have to be.

I think the small black section under the scoop is a low gloss, not flat black.

I’ve owned two original paint 70 w30s and paint inside hood scoops was silver. Not saying black is not correct but I’m doing mine silver

If you are talking about the small strip under the scoop it’s a low gloss black from the factory. Factory correct cars are that color.

It would not have left Oldsmobile with silver paint inside the scoops.
