Was the underside of a 70 cutlass S hood painted body color? Or was it blacked out? Mine is currntly blacked out but had some paint work at some point.

 

Far as I know, it was black

A better question should be was the black paint flat, satin or gloss? Most look like they are flat black. Although, I've seen a few gloss and satin underhood paint jobs.

 

Eddie, mine is like a cross between flat and satin. Kind of wierd, but maybe that's the result of being 40 years old and heat/cold cycles of engine compt? I had to peel back my hood insulation a bit to see that. When/if the time comes I think I'll redo it with satin black.

Mine looks flat, but I assumed it was satin. The brackets for the hood hold downs are satin and I'm going to do everything under the hood (that is black) in satin so everything will match.
