Brazilian Carnauba wax

Howdy,
Today I was reacquainted with a old friend CARNAUBA WAX !! over the past few years I have fallen victim to the convenience of spray waxes and I admit the results have been good, their fast and easy and for what they are they are effective and I know that due to advances in technology and synthetics probably longer lasting when exposed to the elements , however that being said there is something to be said for good old fashioned carnauba wax !! I asked Santa for some carnauba wax for Christmas and the jolly old elf came through he did provide me with liquid wax as opposed to paste wax but that's ok he brought me Mothers Liquid Gold Brazilian Carnauba wax
Today I got up (beautiful day in PHX) and gave the old girl a application, my oh my how satisfying kinda like going to the barber and getting a hot lather shave !! the memories flooded my brain of the countless vehicles I used to wax the old school way before the advent of quick waxes !! This is not a endorsement but the Mothers went on smoothly and came off just as well !! now the finish on the 34 is pretty damn good so the wax did not have to perform any miracles . the results were great and the smell of good old fashioned wax as opposed to the foo foo smell of the quick waxes was pleasing. So the carnauba my not be as long lasting as the new synthetics but were talking about a garage kept veh so I think I'm good for 6 months.
It was a bit of a work out but I needed to get these old bones out of the Lazy Boy after holiday meals and Christmas cookies.

Agreed. I remember using Kit Car Wax (not sure if the spelling).

I agree that a good old fashioned Carnuba hand rub is one of the most satisfying shines around. However, I've recently been trying some new fangled, high tech spray and wipes. Mr. Sam's Feel the Shine is pretty good, but very pricey. I got turned on to Driven Race Wax, which is more reasonably priced with better cleaning.

I still have the remainder of a bottle sitting around somewhere.

I use 2 Malco spray products, Nano Care and Showroom Shine Detailer. Carnauba paste is fine, but way to much work by hand.

I generally use Turtle Wax. I've also used their polishing and rubbing compounds with good results.

I use Griots Ceramic (the green stuff) for my newer cars (94 Cutlass and up), and for the 79's I use the Griots Best of show wax. When my 94 was at the Nationals I got an ample amount of questions about what I used to make the color really pop. I'd say I had at the time about 7 coats on it, but that's only due to me being retired now and not having much of anything else to do.

That Liquid Ebony will wash off in short order, it’s just polish/glaze. I had to laugh when I saw that pic, we used to go through a fair amount of that in the body shop back in the day.

I think you're supposed to wax the car afterwards.

I remember back in the day (the 60's) using Dupont #7.It was great stuff but required some rubbing. I was lots younger then. I used to love Turtle Wax products but for some reason got away from them.

I don't think they even make it anymore but I remember that one of the dealer / manufacture recommended waxes was Blue Coral I think even back then (50's -60,s ) it was a multistep treatment that was a bit labor intensive>

I still use the old carnauba paste wax on my muscle cars. Meguiars or Mothers is my go to. I take my time so as not to wear out my shoulder to quickly. Definitely not as quick as it used to be but it sure looks good. On our daily drivers I use maguiars cleaner liquid wax on my orbital.

I use harly wax. Pure carnauba wax that goes on and off very easy. Best paste wax ever. Even if it hits black trim on newer car it doesn't make it turn white because it's real carnauba wax. Been using on all my cars since 1986 and long lasting

A thought just occured to me about this title. We may get hits from young people wanting to be free of excess hair in certain places after they click on the link after doing a search "brazilian wax".....

Hey Oldsguy, I'm no longer a youngster. I searched the title and came up with lot's of hits for wax (for cars!). I deleted "Carnauba", searched the title "Brazilian Wax" , and found lots of services for wax, none of which are for cars.....

Does anyone out there use Collinite Insulator Wax? It’s been my favorite “conventional” wax for 40+ years, 35 of those trying any and all competitors running a body shop. Easy application, relatively easy removal, great shine and slickness, pretty durable. Was turned on to it by firefighter dad as he was impressed with it on the trucks.

Found the ceramic coatings a real PITA to wash off, so I would conclude that they have good durability but do little as far as finish/appearance goes.

I have a shelf dedicated to Collinite...been using their products as long as you. It all started when I found their Metal Wax. Nothing can beat it for polishing SS & chrome. I like the 850 insulator wax. Dedicated Collinite user.
