X water pump.

I bought this thinking it was a 404847 X pump. It has Almost the same dimensions. The outlet side is smaller
almost like it is for a 350 engine. They both have the cast impeller and are the same height. Anyone ever see one like this?
It shows to be made in the USA marked 5741.

Well, I guess I found a one off X water pump! I really have no idea, but I'll put it to use one day maybe.

I've got several after market water pumps. But like you, have never seen one with an X cast into it!

Also, I picked up a 1970 w-30 4-speed recently and this water pump came with the car as the original:

80,000 mile car.

Interesting. This pump may very well be a W-30 pump for a non a/c car. Didn't those have the smaller 3 core radiator?
If so, that would explain the smaller outlet for the 3 core. Hmmm... Thanks for the posts fasteddy.

Well, the only problem with my surmises is that the pump is the same length as the a/c pump so again, Hmmm....

Pretty sure the smaller outlet was used in 71 and up vehicles

That X pump with no casting number is a later built pump.
For some reason Olds stop doing things like that such as removing bleeders on later master's for instance.
It will have all the same dimensions,
The smaller outlet began in 1971.

Do you think it is an OEM pump that came on a car from the factory?

Unfortunately not, It is a service replacement.
All original cars off the factory line have full cast markings.
