Car Insurance

Like to know what insurance co you guys are using? I have Hagerty, and have been happy. I have also had two claims over 25 years, and they treated me OK. But I just got my bill and now over $500, for $55 value. Seems like it is getting a little high, I drive the car about 500 miles a year. Who are you guys using?

I use Hagerty. About $225 a year for $25k on a 65 442.

Been pleased. Fortunately no claims to this point.

I use Hagerty also. Cost me $416 for $45K coverage on a '67 4-4-2 when I renewed last November. I've never had a claim. Your $500 for $55K coverage appears to be in line with other Hagerty policies. Wish I could tell you how it stacks up against some of the others, good luck!

Then liability only &can not drive from nov to april.cost per that time period is $235.00 with $250.00 deductible full glass etc.I can drive up to 1000 miles per that time frame. I used to use Hagerty but they gave me the run-around on a $60 or $70 claim so I went to American Collectors. Beware of the Hagerty sycophant Agero.

I have used State Farm for many years for my cars. State Farm Classic/Antique stipulated value insurance has strict underwriting policies and vary by state. Make sure that you find an agent that is familiar with this type of policy. (You may have to call State Farm's home office). Prices are very reasonable. State Farm provides discounts for bundling auto, commercial auto, homeowners, multiple cars, accident free, etc.

Rates, as with all carriers, vary based on many factors. Driving record, claims, credit, coverages, policy limits, deductible, state, and other risk factors.

State Farm also provides substantial discounts for full payment for the policy period. State Farm also offers reasonable payment plans.

I hope this information proves helpful.

Hopefully that’s a regional thing based on your severe winter weather. Those are prime driving months here.

I had Hagerty when my car was stolen and stripped. They payed up and wouldn't insure me again for 3 yrs. After I got the car back together 3 yrs. had expired. Hagerty wanted around $500 for $50,000. I went with Heacock, who knows about my previous claim. I'm paying $169/yr. for $50,000 with the same coverage as Hagerty. I also have our race car insured with Heacock $221/yr. for $45,000. Hagerty was charging me $214/yr. for $25,000 in 2018 before my loss. Heacock was easy to sign up with,e-mailed 3 pictures and in less than 15 minutes was insured. They are underwritten by American Modern.

Just insured my 442 with Hagerty ( they also have my other car) and it is $500 for 50K coverage. I will be comparing others next year.

I checked around, and that is about the going rate. Some were less, but to me not enough to change. Also had one higher. I guess I will stay with them. I have to say, being I have had two claims with them, and, they treated me fast and fair. They also told me, this is the same I paid last year, no increase. Think I will stay.

I've been using American Collectors for over 10 years. No issues with them at all. I did notice a rate increase about 2 years ago though. I summed it up to living in Maryland. Right now, I'm at $273 a year.

American Collectors. Just got my renewal for my 3 79's (Calais, H/O, Brougham), for $445. Never had a claim.

JC Taylor $500/yr agreed value 55K no restrictions. No claims.
Buddy got rear-ended hard 6-7 years ago in his 55 Belaire. Pushed the trunk up to the rear glass. He was and still is hurt. Had enough cognizance to keep his foot on the brake or the front would have bit it too. Kid texting didn't see the big yellow bus with blinking red lights my buddy was stopped for....bam.
House of colors black purple candy with phantom flames. JC said go choose your body shop, which he did. The best one on this side of the Mississippi. And if they cannot match the paint JC would pay for the whole car to be re-shot.

No frame damage. I've looked at this car up close, no sign of collision. The quarter trim matches all the gaps are tight and the paint is spot on. So a + for JC Taylor

Seems like $100 or $10,000 in coverage seems fairly common. Lots of discussion about price, but I'd like to hear some more from the community about claims.

Fortunately I've only had need of the towing service from my Hagerty insurance. I had no issues and no other out of pocket expenses.

Thank to those that shared. Good info here as usual.

I already have AAA for towing. So, I don't bother having it with American Collectors. AAA will cover towing for any car that you're in, no matter if you own it or not.

I agree with joe_olds that about $100 per 10K coverage is pretty much the norm on classics.
For 50K in coverage and it averaging out to around $42 a month, that doesn't seem that bad, unless there's a strict limit on mileage.

But like others have said, I have heard a lot of mixed things on Hagerty. Some swear by it, some wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. I think it's a "mileage may vary" situation.

I'm with State Farm and have been very happy. My whole family has been with them for decades. Every time I move, I research agents and find one I feel I can trust and I have a rapport with. I've found that helps, at least when it comes time for relaying concerns, filing claims, etc.

That said, I know people who have had a miserable time with State Farm. Also, State Farm is notorious for dragging their feet on claim pay-outs, and being sticklers in negotiations on settlements.

Speaking candidly, we have six cars on our family policy. The oldest being a 1965 and the newest being a 2023.
My policy is maxed to the max. Meaning, I can't add any more coverage, with very high protection amounts and very low deductibles.
We're paying $490.00 a month. So around $82.00 per car (not really, but I'm doing loose math for conversations sake). And I always feel secure, and I've personally never had a hassle with State Farm. For example, my entire family was in a car that got hit by a guy who had crap coverage. All our medical bills, car balance owed (it was totaled), and future medical needs were taken care of by State Farm when the other guy's insurance fell short.

I could certainly pay less! But like I said, we're maxed to the max on what we can get at State Farm for the peace of mind. And my three classics are good to go if something were to ever happen.

I have American Modern through the National Corvette Museum. I've used them for about 15 years. They will insure any vintage or special interest car. I've only sent a claim to them twice for towing. It was painless. I just had to email them the tow bill and got repaid in a week. I pay $1200/yr for all the cars listed in my sig below. All of these cars are # 1 or 2 condition.
