Smile Finally talked the original owner into selling me her blazer.. years of persistence

This was hiding in a garage 2 blocks from my house. Never parked outside or driven after she bought a 2002 Tahoe. I started trying to buy the truck in about 1995. Friday the phone rang and it was Sally. She was ready to sell the K5 that she purchased new in 1986.
Purchase made and limped it home under its own power. A new project to throw $$$ at. FUN

Note the duct tape on the broken gas tank strap and on fender where wheel molding was.. lol

Good looking vehicle. Nice buy!

Even being from a Minneapolis dealer, and living its life near you, there is remarkably little rust.

Love my little 83 GMC High Sierra step side. Square body's are great drivers, enjoy the project! They are so easy to work on.

Did GM ever put the Detroit diesel (6.2l or 6.5l) in a Blazer?

Congratulations, usually after that long it goes to someone else. If your lucky you get to see it disappear in the distance on someone else's trailer.

Normal diesel K5s are kinda rare. They made way more diesel 'burbs. Although all the military K5s were diesels and those seem to be hidden everywhere these days...

Thanks for the comments and the linky to LMC. I am sure I will be buying more parts for Blazer. Rock auto has a fuel tank , straps and sending unit on the way.
The chevy has the 305 motor with quadrajet carb and automatic trans. Plan is to get some bugs worked out of it and use for some summer fun driving. I am amazed how intact the vehicle is. NOT typical rusted out MN car. Today going to DMV to get long expired tabs and plates dealt with first thing. Then discount tire for new tires....

So clean! Always wanted 1 just like that. Any left running around my way look like Swiss cheese with doors... Great buy, enjoy!

Went with "stock" size 235/75R15 Hancook Dynapro tire with white letters turned in. The top is removable indeed. Orig. owner claims it was never taken off. No plans to take it off as of yet..?? That is a wait and see thing with me.
First need to look over brakes , steering suspension etc etc

The tops on those do come off, but it requires five men and a boy. They are heavy, awkward and there really isn't a great way to grab onto them. It's definitely not something that you'd pop on and off just for a warm day or the hell of it..

One of those unrotted is the key. Exactly why I don't want another square body, can't do any amount Winter driving witn one or it turns to Swiss cheese.

Love to see such as clean K5. I'm not delighted with most of the stuff I bought from LMC Truck for my '77 so far (weatherstripping and mirrors). I think Motor City K5 will be my go-to when I can't find nice OEM or NOS parts. Mine is getting a new American Autowire Classic Upgrade harness this week then it should be road ready. Good luck with the project.
Terry
