Hello:
Can anyone on here identify what hood this is? I have never seen one quite like this. I have seen low profile cowl and ram air but not a combination quite like this. They gentleman told me it came off of wrecked 442 but I have searched far and wide for this same hood and have not seen a pic yet showing the same hood. Please identify the year and or if you know this to be just a custom hood. If it is custom and you know the manufacturer please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation.
The gentleman said a factory steel 72 model hood. The car is an 86 so that doesn't jive. That is why I shared it on here to figure out what it really was. I sort of like it....unique.
The way it's bowed I would definitely say fiberglass. You might also mention to the guy giving you that information that he has no idea what he is talking about.
It's an aftermarket cowl induction hood that someone has cut out and added aftermarket NACA scoops to. You can get G-body cowl induction hoods in both metal and fiberglass, in a variety of scoop heights. The NACA scoops are available from a number of vendors in different sizes and configurations.
Wow, if those scoops are open and functional, then it's a "pass through" hood. The air comes in the front scoops and blows right out the rear cowl opening. Engineering Fail

Absolutely agree! They should have installed the NACA scoops on the outer edges of the hood. At least that would have cooled the engine compartment....at least in theory that is.
