for the love of god, someone help...(revised)

new update 10:00pm 10/20

Well, I had this rant going, but thankfully, I'm getting the help I need diagnosing the pulley problem from a fine gentleman in Phoenix named Karl, who just happens to be incredibly knowledgeable about our favorite cars.

I needed to post some updated pics anyway. I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'll post again when it's done. Here's the original thread for those wanting to read up on what's happened with this thing.

Come on Bluevista - rescue this guy!! I know you can do it - I have faith!!
It may require more than duct tape and chewing gum, though!!

Tom - saw your car 4-5 weeks ago, and it seems to be coming along nicely in the pics. The front end is together now - was torn apart before. How long do you expect before completion?

looking good

From the recent pics it is coming along nicely. Did you get the harmonic balancer problem sorted out? I did not read anything about a pulley problem but glad to hear you have someone helping you sort it out.
I agree with you about the colour , it's nice to have something you don't see everyday. I was not real sure about the color of my car but it has grown on me and will get it redone the same color when it comes time.

Thanks guys. Well, seeing as it's taken 6 months to get the front end on, god only knows when it will be completed. But, mainly, they just need to get the rear window channels and weatherstrip in, the rear and door panels installed, the seats buttoned down, the A/C compressor, pulleys and belts put in, and then the front bumper. So, it's close.

We did get the harmonic balancer figured out. Not sure what happened with it, but we ended up using the original one, I believe.

I'm definitely liking the 2-tone color. It's like having a vinyl top without the problems associated with having a vinyl top. Can't wait to get the dog dish caps on.

Great to see, Tom. You've had a long and arduous journey, and your perseverance is commendable, to say the least!! Looking good!

The various top treatments are interesting. I agree, the 2-tones have a unique appeal.

Some say the vinyl tops have the appeal of having a "convertible top" look.
I find the early '60s Oldsmobile roofs to be interesting. If you look at the hardtops, the roofs have seams and creases in them that make them resemble convertible tops. And the *original* convertible tops have panels in them that make them look more like hardtops. Go figure.
