I bought this oil pan 555-50280 from jegs to use on a motor im working on but found it will not work if using your factory crossover pipe. i used this same pan on my 72 cutlass but that has headers .its good quality but not a factory replacement pan for a 350 olds.you can see in the first photo of the jegs pan it has an extra hump that prevents the crossover pipe from fitting properly .The second photo is a factory original.ill figure something out but just wanted to bring this up to make people aware of the differences.

I put a Milodon pan on the 455 that was in my 71 98 and it seemed to fit pretty well. I can't comment on ground clearance in a Cutlass but it never bottomed out in my 98.

 

That's because this is a BBO pan, not an SBO pan. I guess I never thought about the crossover pipe clearance. My only single exhaust cars are 307s. The bulges are due to the internal baffle used on the BBO pans.

 

So, they either: Listed the wrong one, shipped the wrong one or you purchased the wrong one (by mistake). Sounds simple enough to correct - other than time wasted.

well i fell for the old fits 350-455 trick!(yes technically it fits) I was only going to use the factory manifolds and crossover pipe to break in the new rings i installed . Ill macgyver something together for the break-in.

 

That is the better pan, yeah never thought about the crossover pipe. Obviously the BBO crossover pipe is longer and must have more clearance at the pan.
