I have 3 of these going after anything that moves. It's like the rodents don't even come around any more... (lol)

 

Bounce works great in the barn for the lawn equipment.

I hated when I would go to start the mower in the spring and those beady-eyed critters would leap out from everywhere with blind pinkies riding all over their backs trying to escape, yuck!

My garage is mouse proof, I drywalled everything and there are no opening anywhere, door seals are tight, the bugs dont even get in.
In my house is a different story., I also have a couple of battlecats to take care of the vermin in there. No major problem, just when it starts getting cold and the mieces are scouting for a winter home and a few get nailed. The cats were chasing one and it ran all the way up my wife's leg under her pants trying to escape once, I wish I had a video.

I used mothballs a long time ago but my car smelled like my grandma's house did when I was kid.
Had one of those giant plastic car storage bags at my old house, comes with bags of dessicant for moisture. No mice got in but the fuel and fluid vapors build up and can knock you for a loop when you open it, no open flames for sure, car smelled like gasoline inside too.

 

x2 on the mothball smell. A friend told me to try the following for my cottage winterizing: instead of mouse poison and mothballs, try Bay leaves and Cloves. For the last 5 years it's been working great,and the kids don't complain about the "grandma smell" Derek

So I came up with ALOT better alternative!

I buy 10 bars of irish spring..........Open one end and put them all over the car,On the engine under hood,trunk etc etc............When you pull it out of storage its Irish spring fresh!!!!!!!!

 

Along with stuffing Bounce in the car.

I built some wooden boxes and drilled a small home in one side. The top is held on by one screw in the corner and a peg put in the opposite corner. To open the box just pull the peg and slide the top open. In the center of the floor of the box I screwed in a tuna fish can to hold the bait/poison. I placed one under my work bench in the garage and it works well. It kills mice w/o letting dogs or cats accidently get in the poison.

 

A couple of snakes up the shed should sort 'em out...

 

Glue boards work well where you know they will get in, like around the garage door seal at the edges.
They are "Catchmaster" brand. I put them in corners and in my workshop in verious places.
I have used these to catch the lizards and bugs from getting in for years but I had caught three mice on one and a baby copperhead on another...
My neighbor confirmed the snake was a copperhead and said those traps lived up to their name... He double confirmed that when he stepped on a trap last year.
For that reason, if you have kids and pets, I would not advise them.
I caught a few birds, but I was able to release them using veggie oil (dissolves the glue)
I buy them online in cases of 72 for about 30 bucks or so.

 

I am lucky. My garage is mouse proof.

 

I've tried them all. Moth *****, Irish Spring soap pieces, Bounce dryer towels and nothing has totally done the dirty deed to them nasty critters. D-Con outside the car during the summer cuts down their numbers but they have actually died inside the headliner in the past.
The only thing that has worked is mimicking the enclosed plastic bag trick. I drive the car onto a tarp and wrap it up around the car and cloth cover. Then I take another tarp and bungi cord it around the car from the top side. One big freaking cocoon. Problem here is there is no access at all while it's cocooned

My garage door opener has this very high whine. It turns out it is a sound that mice, and other rodents hate. I haven't decided if it a feature or a defect but I have never seen a mouse in my garage (or house) since I moved in 12+ years ago. Since Alberta is the largest land mass in the world that is rat-free, I don't have to worry about them either.

If you go to Home Depot you can pick up these little plug ins that you will hardly notice, but rodents stay away from. Will cost you around $20-$25 but they work as a buddy will attest to.

 

I have five felines- That come in the garage every night otherwise they are owl or coyote bait. The solid black one has been here four years and the other four about two years. Have had no mice problems, even with the one convertible left outside for the winter. Cheers-CATS ROCK!!!

 

Down here we have mouse plagues like you wouldn't believe. The last time the little buggers got into the shed and attacked my Volkswagen.

I’ve been fighting the mice issue for years in my storage barn. every year I tried something new, which usually didn’t work, or was too much work for me….I didn’t want to have a high maintenance system because I don’t go into the barn on a regular basis. Sometimes I won’t go there for a month,, so I needed something low maintenance.

last year I found what works for me…its very simple. It’s caught mice, voles, and small chipmunks.

I wanted a trap system that got the little buggers before they got into a car…at the beginning of winter , mice want to find a warm place inside to nest for the winter, by this time of the year, they are already inside and nesting…you have to get them during this time.

I was getting 5+ a day at the beginning, now it’s down to 1 every few days or zero…they are just about finished looking for a place to nest. I place the trap outside each car..they never get into the car to start with….the trap is like crack to a crack head,,they won’t go into a car when this trap is there..the peanut butter is way more attractive 😁

I’ll post some pics of todays victims 😁

 

Putting anything in the car to stop mice is a dumb idea..it’s too late by then

I surround my car with the glue traps, they never cross the boarder

 

Bought peppermint mouse repellent at the hardware store, it came in 2"x2" bags with something like rice inside. Once the odor faded away I bought peppermint oil and put 5 or 6 drops on each bag to recharge it. Put 5 bags under the car and 1 in it. Smells great and no mice so far.

 

that doesn’t work unless the floor is spotless clean. In a barn or garage that has a layer of dust on the floor, it prevents the mouses feet from sticking to the strips…I tried those, they walk right across them

 

Vanilla scented tree air fresheners.
No sign of anything inside/trunk/under hood in the 10 years I have used them.
Discovered that when I bought my H/O out of a hay shed where it sat for another ten years.
I have one inside and one under the hood.

 

They work for me, do you have the sticky part up?

 

if your garage isn't heated the glue traps won't work,they just walk right over em.

 

I've been using dryer sheets for the past 10 years and have yet to have a single mouse get in my car. A box on the front floor, one in the back. Add to that the bonus of no mothball smell.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I tried that too..I laid an uninterrupted ring of them around each car so they couldnt walk between them…fail

mice can jump pretty far too

 

Mice despise peppermint and cinnamon.... Will repel mice and won't harm the little boys and girls!!

 

I put mine IN the car, not outside around it.
